Since May 2021, Shanon LaCorte has been the Bureau Chief of the Queens County District Attorney’s Office Crime Strategies and Intelligence Bureau “CSIB”, which has reimagined the intelligence-driven prosecution model by identifying and preventing emerging threats to public safety.  Under Chief LaCorte, CSIB has emerged as a leader in the effort to rid the community of personally manufactured firearms, or Ghost Guns. 

CSIB is comprised of Assistant District Attorneys, Intelligence Analysts, Detective Investigators all utilizing cutting-edge law enforcement tools to improve public safety. CSIB focuses prosecutorial resources on proactively reducing and preventing criminal activity, particularly violent criminal offenses and gun trafficking. In addition to initiating proactive investigations, CSIB has assisted prosecutors and investigators in hundreds of cases regarding the analysis of social media intelligence, complex digital evidence, ballistic evidence analysis, expert testimony, and statistical data. 

Mr. LaCorte is recognized by the New York New Jersey High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) as a subject matter expert and has provided law enforcement training in the areas of Personally Manufactured Firearms, Organized Retail Theft, and Cannabis Enforcement.  Prior to leading this Bureau, Shanon LaCorte was Special Counsel at the New York State Attorney General’s Statewide Organized Crime Task Force where he spent five years conducting long-term wiretap investigations into complex criminal enterprises related to firearms trafficking, narcotics distribution, organized retail and auto theft rings, and organized crime.

 Mr. LaCorte previously served in the New York State Attorney General’s Criminal Enforcement and Financial Crimes Bureau where he prosecuted numerous individuals for running multimillion dollar Ponzi schemes and fraudulent investment funds in violation of New York State’s Martin Act. Prior to that, Mr. LaCorte served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office where he was responsible for the investigation and mprosecution of violent felonies including attempted murder, robbery, assault, larceny, and burglary. Mr. LaCorte started his career as a litigation associate at the New York City law firm of Schulte Roth and Zabel, LLP where he assisted in the representation of financial institutions in federal and state civil actions related to Anti-Money Laundering, Insider Trading, and Securities Fraud. 

He received his juris doctor from American University in Washington DC, and his Bachelor of Arts from Union College in Schenectady New York.
