Erik Kleinsmith has over 30 years experience in intelligence and security as a U.S. Army military intelligence officer, defense contractor, academic, author and cold case investigator. Erik gained US national notoriety related to his involvement in the Able Danger program as the military lead of a team of analysts profiling and mapping Al Qaeda prior to 9/11.
In the commercial environment as defense contractor, Erik created a series of intelligence training courses and programs for the US Army and other Intel Community members growing his portfolio to over 150 instructors and over $30 Million (US) in annual revenue.
He is one of the main subjects of the 2010 book, “The Watchers: The Rise of America’s Surveillance State” by Shane Harris and is the vice-chairman of The Case Breakers, a private investigative group that has tackled cold cases such as DB Cooper, the Zodiac Killer, and Jimmy Hoffa of which the Cooper Case has been turned into a docuseries on Netflix in June 2022. Erik is also the author of many related articles and the 2020 book entitled Intelligence Operations: Understanding Data, Tools, People, and Processes.
